2017-2018 Attendance Challenge

The 2016-2017 Central Elementary School Attendance Challenge was such a success that Bannister Foundation made the decision to expand the program to additional schools. This year, we've added Pass Road Elementary School and 28th Street Elementary School. Bannister Foundation has also partnered with WXXV Fox 25 to promote the program and gain community support.

1st Quarter Update

The results are in and the first quarter of our attendance initiative was a success!  Our first Pizza Party was at Twenty Eighth Street Elementary on Thursday, October 25, 2018. Out of 80 fifth grade students, 43 of them were able to attend the party. Our second pizza party was held on Friday, October 26th, 2018 at Central Elementary School. Out of 81 fifth grades students, 45 were eligible to attend their pizza party. Our last pizza party for the quarter was held at Pass Road Elementary on Tuesday, October 30th. Out of 87 fifth grade students, 60 were able to attend the pizza party. WOW! Congratulations to these outstanding fifth graders for setting a goal, and meeting it! We are so proud of all of you! An extra special thank you to the parents, teachers, and administrators too. This program would not be as successful without your constant support and encouragement.

2nd Quarter Update

Out of 81 fifth grade students, 35 were able to attend the pizza party. WOW! Congratulations to these outstanding fifth graders for setting a goal, and meeting it! We are so proud of all of you! An extra special thank you to the parents, teachers, and administrators too. This program would not be as successful without your constant support and encouragement.

1st Semester Update

Part of our attendance challenge includes rewarding those students who have achieved perfect attendance for the semester. Each child who achieved perfect attendance for the first semester of the 2018-2019 school year, received a $50 Walmart Gift Card. We are proud to announce that we handed out 120 gift cards to students throughout 3 separate elementary schools. Out of 406 students at Pass Road Elementary, 45 students received gift cards. Out of 432 students at 28th Street Elementary, 39 students received gift cards. Out of 467 students at Central Elementary, 36 students received gift cards.

We heard countless stories from each of the schools attesting to the success of this program. Each school had stories about students and families who had never made attendance or school a priority, that made a point to put the effort in to be in school everyday. This program makes a difference, this program does work.
